Happy Birthday, Chun-Li!!!

Greetings Ryu X Chun-Li Project fans and followers.  And….

Happy Birthday Chun-Li!!!

We’ll get to your birthday gifts in a moment, but first let’s talk a bit about the one thing that hopefully always comes with a birthday: wisdom. There is a Chinese proverb that goes: A single conversation with a wise man is worth a month’s study of books. Well we got to talk, at least indirectly, with a man very wise in the ways of Street Fighter. Our director, Sean Anderson, had the good fortune of having his question answered first in a Q&A with Joey Ansah, directer and producer of the upcoming web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. You can see the full Q &A video below.

Next, we saw this on UDON Entertainment’s Facebook page:

It turns out that CAPCOM published all of UDON’s Street Fighter work here in Japan. This is good news for the RXCLP because it means CAPCOM is capable of publishing its own books if it chooses. So, when we finally roll up onto CAPCOM’s door step, who knows, maybe we’ll get to go straight to print! Hey, we can dream can’t we? In all seriousness though, this discovery means we won’t necessarily have to deal with a third party if CAPCOM decides to accept our finished book.

And speaking of UDON. We used to think their slow Street Fighter book production was because they were doing something wrong as a company. But seeing how long it is taking us to get our own Street Fighter book out, we now appreciate why they are not able to publish and print Street Fighter books on a regular schedule. Not to mention there can’t be a lot of money in Street Fighter comics. If there was, we bet UDON would be releasing a whole lot more. UDON, your work is awesome. Unlike the fans who troll you over your Street Fighter stories and the direction you’ve taken with them, we know what it is like to work on a Street Fighter book. We now understand some of the challenges you must face.  UDON, you will always have our Street Fighter comic love, our patience, and deepest respect.

And now for those presents.  Chun-Li, Happy 45th birthday! Here are our gifts for you this year.

We hope they are the first of many cosplayers to come who will help us make this project the best tribute to Ryu and Chun-Li ever!

And last but not least, here’s a partial preview of page 46 from our book’s second art team.
