The state of the book

Hey Ryu X Chun-Li fans and followers,
Let’s talk a little bit about this book we’re putting together…
We’re working faster than before…
As you know we have two art teams working on the book. This makes for two different art styles appearing in the book separated by chapters, but both teams bring some amazing talent and stye to the table, so we hope you’ll be pleased.
Layout has begun…
We have enough pages now to start some of the layout for the book.  We still have quite aways to go with the main book pages, but if the book were released right now, complete, we would have almost 150 pages of content, but I’m pleased to say we still have more single art pieces and mini-comics being produced as we speak. And of course, we continue to seek out and welcome more contributions from artists who wish to help us celebrate the idea of Ryu and Chun-Li together. Feel free to get in the game and let your favourite artist know about us and have them contact us at the address at the end of this blog entry.
Things are about to get real…we hope!
As you may have seen from our recent Facebook posts, our call for cosplayers to volunteer photos to the project has been heard, and we’ve had a few of these wonderfully talented people express interest. Of course, nothing is for sure until their Ryu/Chun-Li photo is in our hands, but word is getting around. Let’s hope a few of them come on board. If you have a Chun-Li or Ryu cosplayer you are fond of, feel free to contact them and let them know we’re here.
One of the best movies we ever saw was The Matrix. Not because it is the best movie in the world, but rather because when we saw it we knew almost nothing about it. We went into it with no spoilers at all. So, we experienced all the movie had to offer inside the theatre without any expectations. Love or hate the RXCLP book when it comes out, this is the effect we want the book to have on you. We want to give you as few spoilers as possible, so that when the book comes out, you have not already seen most of it and are able to enjoy the book as much as possible in its completed form. That said, each of our page reveals has coincided with a significant cash donation, so if you desperately want to see more pages, you know what you have to do. 🙂 Besides, donations are a pretty sweet deal now. A bunch of fan art wallpapers and the official Ryu X Chun-Li Project music are here for anyone willing to throw some financial help our way. And of course there is the matter of the main book content we have on the cutting room floor. We could bring some of that back in too…
The book is starting to look…beautiful.
RyuChunli Rounded
For much of this project we’ve been looking at the main book pages in smaller sizes as we work with them on our computers. But for the first time, we saw a bunch of them together at A4 size, and it was beautiful. Our director looked like he was going to shed a tear. Laugh at that if you wish, but he’s been carrying this dream around for over ten years and to see it finally taking shape and to see how many wonderful people have stepped up to make it possible is an emotional experience. This book has become more than a project. It has become a responsibility.
And finally, something for the writers…
We’ve been dealing with a lot of artists lately, but we know there are a lot of Ryu/Chun-Li fans that are writers out there too. So, we would like to offer you the following opportunities:
1. The Blog.
People reading this blog are always welcome to submit a guest entry for it. If there is something about Ryu/Chun-Li you would like to share with our followers, we’d love to have you put fingers to keyboard and send it our way.
2. A poem.
We would like the first page of our book after the cover to contain a short poem about Ryu/Chun-Li and what it means for them to be together and/or why they should be together. This could take the shape of a Japanese Haiku (which would be pretty good match for this book considering its origins) or some other form of short poetry. If anyone out there has a good idea for a poem, write it up and send it our way.
3. A comic strip.
We have an artist lined up who has offered to do a two possibly three panel comic strip for us about Ryu and Chun-Li, so we’ve decided to hand this opportunity over to the fans. If you think you’ve got a good idea for a RXCLP strip–one that celebrates the idea of Ryu and Chun-Li as a couple–send your script our way and we’ll make the best script of the bunch a full colour reality.
There, that should keep you all busy for a while… Stay awesome!
Please send all entries for the above to the e-mail address below.
